Advent + Christmas
From our altar to your home.
That is the vision. It sounds simple, sure, but it is unbelievably rich in spirituality and wisdom. Benedictine monasticism has carried peace through spiritual battles for 1500 years with many characteristics that are surely worth embodying in our own lives of faith.
Our new “Lectio Divina Rosary Guides,” the first new products born out of our Altar + Home mission, share an example of our hope to bring our spirituality into your domestic church. The rosary is a classic, stable form of prayer in the Catholic Church. Lectio divina, or spiritual reading, is a tried-and-true Benedictine form of prayer.
Br. Michael Marcotte, OSB, a monk of Conception Abbey, prayerfully selected Sacred Scripture to complement each mystery of the Rosary. In doing so, he has provided a new way for us to meditate on Sacred Scripture and the lives of Jesus and our Mother Mary, and furthermore, to apply the prayers and Scriptures to our daily lives. Combined then with a guide on how to pray the Rosary and the fruits of the Spirit connected with each mystery, this robust Rosary guide fits in a pocket or book easily. We have created two versions, one more masuline, and one more femine, to encourage families to pray together.
We’re so excited to share this resource with those who have embraced Benedictine spirituality and those who have yet to do so. This is a foretaste of what is to come in the future of Altar + Home. Will you pray for this journey? And, of course, we’ll be praying for you and your domestic church.
