#GivingTuesday Event at Conception Abbey a Success!
“It’s all about community”
Conception, MO – Conception Abbey and Tri-C Partners 4 Progress held their annual #GivingTuesday event from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 28 on the Conception Abbey campus in Conception, Mo.
Just over 100 people attended the #GivingTuesday event helping to:
- Donate and wrap gifts for eight adopted local families.
- Make over 100 ornaments to decorate Christmas trees that will be given to the adopted families.
- Assemble, cut, and tie thirty hand-tie fleece blankets for the adopted families.
- Sign 150 Christmas cards to go to those alone or without family during the holiday season.
- Hang up 15 stuffed Christmas stockings, one for every child on the adopted family list.
- Gather over 150 baby items, approximately 200 personal care items, and over 200 food items. Some will go to the adopted families, but most of these items will go to area businesses that help those in need.
- Collect $150 in gift cards and $1,000 in cash and online donations. This will help in purchasing items that are still needed for the adopted families.
Trish Wiederholt, Conception Abbey’s Event Coordinator, says, “Our #GivingTuesday event can be summed up in one word – community. It is in working with many members in our community that we can find our adopted families every year and it is our community members that show up here for the event to donate, volunteer, and add to the Christmas cheer. In its simplest form, this event is our community taking care of each other. And that is why I feel the best way to describe our #GivingTuesday event is with one word – community.”
Items are still being collected through Friday, December 8 and can be dropped off at Conception Abbey’s St. Raphael Hall. For more information on how you can help visit https://www.conceptionabbey.org/monastery/givingtuesday/. Or contact Trish Wiederholt at (660) 944-2958 or events@conception.edu.
