Happy Mother’s Day

Today, Sunday, May 11^th, we celebrate Mother’s Day—a day to honor our mothers, grandmothers, stepmothers, godmothers, and all who have had a maternal influence in our lives.  Whether you are the homemaker, teacher of life, caretaker, nurse, best friend, soccer mom, backbone of the family, or just good old “Mom”—thank you for the many roles you play and all the sacrifices you make.  Whether our mothers are living or have parted from this world, let us raise our hearts in thanksgiving to God for the many ways in which our mothers have given us life.

Loving God, as a mother gives life and nourishment to her children, so you watch over your Church. Bless these women, that they may be strengthened as Christian mothers. Let the example of their faith and love shine forth. Grant that we, their sons and daughters, may honor them always with a spirit of profound respect.

Grant this through Christ our Lord.

May the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, pray for us!
