Scott Hahn draws large crowd to Conception Abbey

Over 300 people attended Dr. Scott Hahn’s lecture at Conception Abbey and Conception Seminary College

Dr. Scott Hahn addressed a crowd of over 300 people gathered in the Abbey Basilica for a lecture on “Creed and Communion” Friday evening.

Dr. Scott Hahn, bestselling author, founder and president of the Saint Paul Center for Biblical Theology in Steubenville, Oh., teacher, and theologian, spoke Friday, December 1 at Conception Abbey & Conception Seminary College in Conception, Mo. His first talk to the seminary faculty, staff, and student body at 4:00 p.m. was followed by a public talk in the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception at 7:00 p.m.

In his first talk to the seminary, Dr. Hahn spoke about the sacrifice of the Mass, the New Testament, and how blessed we are by the Lord and his mysteries. He also talked about his own conversion to Catholicism and gave insight on how to dialogue with non-Catholics about Catholic beliefs and teachings.

Over 300 people attended Dr. Hahn’s second talk of the evening with guests attending from as far away as Des Moines, Ia. and Springfield, Mo. Dr. Hahn’s lecture entitled “Creed and Communion” centered on the deep love the Father has for his people and his continual guidance of the Church through the ages. Following his lecture, guests attended a social where they were able to meet and thank Dr. Hahn for his inspiring words.

Dr. Scott Hahn was born in 1957, and has been married to his wife, Kimberly, since 1979. He and Kimberly have six children and are expecting their fourteenth grandchild. An exceptionally popular speaker and teacher, Dr. Hahn has delivered numerous talks nationally and internationally on a wide variety of topics related to Scripture and the Catholic faith. Hundreds of these talks have been produced on audio and videotapes by St. Joseph Communications. His talks have been effective in helping thousands of Protestants and fallen away Catholics to (re)embrace the Catholic faith.

He has been awarded the Father Michael Scanlan, T.O.R., Chair of Biblical Theology and the New Evangelization at Franciscan University of Steubenville, where he has taught since 1990, and is the founder and president of the Saint Paul Center for Biblical Theology. From 2005 to 2011, he held the Pope Benedict XVI Chair of Biblical Theology and Liturgical Proclamation at St. Vincent Seminary in Latrobe, Pennsylvania.

Dr. Hahn is also the bestselling author of numerous books including The Lamb’s SupperReasons to Believe, and Rome Sweet Home (co-authored with his wife, Kimberly). Some of his newest books are The Creed, Evangelizing CatholicsAngels and Saints, and Joy to the World.

Dr. Hahn received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Grove City College, Pennsylvania, in 1979, his Masters of Divinity from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in 1982, and his Ph.D. in Biblical Theology from Marquette University in 1995. He entered the Catholic Church at the Easter Vigil, 1986.
